The Indy Star and Patriot-News also just missed triple crowns, with the Pat-News playing up as well. My paper, the Tulsa World, ended up with an honorable mention for Sunday and top 10 for daily.

Probably one of the best papers on the planet. Many of its editors are Americans or Brits. I think the sports editor is from the AJC.
Most important, Chuck Culpepper is its lead columnist. He's currently in China, covering the Volvo Ocean Race (around the world yacht sailing, used to be called the Whitbread Round the World Race). I think they've had him at most if not all the ports in the last few months. Spain, Cape Town, etc. It's pretty much a journalist's dream, and any newspaper that still spends that kind of money should be appreciated.

Also, Chuck's series with Manny Pacquiao -- a week in the Philippines -- was just fantastic. If it was entered for an award, I can't imagine it not winning.

(Remember back in the olden days when newspapers used to do this great stuff?)

I never realized (or even considered) the APSEs were open to foreign newspapers.

I didn't either. But now we know. Watch for The Sun to clean up next year.

Yup. Ex-boss and his wife are there. Not for everyone, but they're in their third year, and he's been to some cool places covering stuff, mostly soccer.

Was about to mention him. And as good as he is, there's plenty of comparable talent around him there. Top-notch paper.
