Dirty hit and was suspended. What is your point? How does it relate to what we are talking about?

That Sutton hit looked very similar to what Malkin did to Mitchell that Twoback brushed off

    Period.

Yea clean, open ice hits are terrible for hockey.

  5. vicious hits that leave players unconcious on the ice are, though.

I don't argue that Sutton's hit wasn't clean. What I argue is that the ferocity with which it was delivered was unnecessary.

What was the difference between Suttons hit and Malkins? If Sutton is bad for hockey what is Matt Cooke? Who is universally considered the biggest pos in the league.

unfortunately, in a physical contact sport where guys are flying around at 30 MPH this can be the result.

The reason it was so vicious is that the guy had his head down. You can't just dial it down when you're flying at a guy when you realize a split second before you hit him that he's not ready. You have to be a big boy and fend for yourself in the open ice, not expect a guy on the other team to look out for your well-being.

Nice try in ending the thread, and I agree it could have ended there, but at least you made some thoughtful points in the attempt. :)

Well, yeah. How much ferocity is too much? Should there be a "ferocity" meter?

As long as Sutton didn't charge at Leopold or leave his feet or get his arm up before the collision or come at him from the side or from behind - in other words, as long as the hit is legal - then all the hand-wringing about this needs to stop.

As I said, Cookie should have been suspended for the Savard hit.
However, he is not 6-5, 230, going around trying to hurt people.
    And what is a pos?

It's an acronym for a description. I'll leave it at that.
