Gee, I wonder why Paths Of Glory didn't make that list?

Paths Of Glory -- which is, in turn, the most underrated war movie of all-time, far and away the most underrated Kubrick movie of all-time and one of the most underappreciated movies of all-time (at least when it comes to those Best Of lists) -- deserves a lot better.

Kirk Douglas' Col. Dax from that movie could be my favorite movie character of all-time.

I dunno if "Full Metal Jacket" is an anti-war movie. I just always thought it was a warts-and-all look at Marines during the Tet offensive.

  4. Looks like they stuck to films dealing with U.S. military. Otherwise Overlord should be in the top ten.

Top Gun was the best recruitment video the navy ever could have had... For an Army Times poll, I'm surprised it's not No. 1...

A second mention for Tora! Tora! Tora! No, it wasn't flattering toward the US Military, but then, the attack on Pearl Harbor wasn't, either.

I can't argue with the top two, but how is Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan & Platoon not included and Top Gunt is? BTW, even though it stars America's favorite Australian anti-Semite, I think that Mel Gibson's We Were Soldiers was pretty damn good. The botched napalm attack scene was one of the most gruesome, gut-wrenching scenes I've ever watched.

Top Gun was as pro-American, anti-Soviet in the middle of the Cold War... It was a two-hour recruiting video that essentially made being in the military seem like the coolest thing in the world...

Why anyone would be surprised to see it on this list is beyond me...
