Two one-hundredths of a cent? That isn't worth much. :)

Athens has everything. If you're looking for punk, folk, metal, hip-hop, stoner jam, country, whatever, you'll find a place to hear it virtually any night you head downtown.

the pay will suck serious monkey balls, but everything else said in this thread was true

it's a great gig, just wanted to let you know it's not all sunshines and puppies. also, it's a nice looking paper, but i've noticed it gets smaller every time i see it. it's about a pamphlet size now. some great folks there and the opportunity to do great things, but also has its limitations (especially the weeble on the other side of the building) so go in with your eyes open.

that said, i'd do anything for texas (kalteflieter), who is one of the finest people i've ever known.

Have known a couple people who've lived and worked in Athens. While some of them have complained that the pay isn't the greatest, they've all made the point of how it is pretty cheap to live there, too.
My only concern with taking a job here would be that when you're ready to leave, your pay scale could be significantly lower. I still don't know if that would be enough to keep most people from applying for a job there.
Athens is a great town from the little I've experienced it, and like others have said, the paper is damn solid.

Great town, great SE, great opportunity. That more than makes up for the fact that you will be getting paid poorly.

John's a good dude, and I'm sure he's going to get plenty of resumes for this opening. He expects good work and puts out a nice looking section.

Hoops is right on about the paper being smaller. I think it was about an inch wider when I worked there.

You're better off making the drive to Atlanta. So I've heard.
