I love that show, luggie. I hate reality TV. I rarely wear anything other than jeans and t-shirts, but I've watched every season more than once.

It's awesome! (not as awesome as Top Chef though)

I'm just happy we've been able to keep this thread free from male interference and have a real place where we can talk about stuff they're not interested in. :)

Apparently they aren't threatened by makeup, clothes and shoes. I think the hot, shirtless men get to them.

Here's a question to throw out there.

Do you gals buy "expensive" nail polish? If so, what brand(s)?

I usually get french manicures and thus, never polish my fingernails. However, I keep my toenails painted 365 days of the year. But, I always purchase cheap (see, $2.99 and cheaper) nail polish for my piggies. I sometimes wonder if the cheap stuff is OK or if I should look into a "better nailpolish?!?"

I go back to my Avon fav, Instant Manicure.

I like that I can do my toes and they stay nice for a month -- until I have to remove the polish because of my nails growing out.

I just made a snap decision to not go to work tonight (since I was semi-scheduled to be off anyway) and meet up with two elementary school classmates. I haven't seen one of 'em in probably 10 years, and the other in at least five.

I wish I could be girly, just for long enough to get ready. I threw on a button-down blouse with my blue jeans and a pair of comfy flats. Y'all may also be shocked to know that I just put on concealer (or is it foundation?) and eyeshadow... not that it's particularly noticeable.

But I can't do a damn thing with the chaos that is my hair.

I think I'll just take solace in the fact that neither of them have ever seen me with long hair... and not fret so much about the fact that it's a frizzy mess. :-\

Ah, the things I'll do for old friends and cupcakes!

I buy OPI nail polish because I like the bold colors and because I like the names (hey, makeup should be fun!). The secret I've learned is it's OK to use cheap polish for the color, but use an expensive base coat/top coat to make it last longer and prevent the cheap stuff from discoloring your nails.

I'm a manicure girl, but Seche Vite is the most amazing top coat ever (whether you do your own or get 'em done). Dries like hard plastic. I'm really hard on my nails--typing, working out, tapping impatiently at airline counters--and my nails will last perfectly for a week. Even with dark polish.

Best colors: Just made the seasonal swap from french (Essie's Mademoiselle or Ballet Slippers) to Wicked (also Essie), which is a really dark cranberry. Toes always get OPI, I don't know why, their colors just seem right for toes.

I figure it's not a tattoo, if it doesn't look right, you take it off and start over.

I use cheap nail polish most of the time, but I have a couple OPIs (my favorite is "I'm Not Really A Waitress"). I agree on the good stuff for the top coat/base coat. I used to use the cheap stuff and it yellowed my nails when I wore dark colors.

OK, I don't usually wear makeup (starting to now) and I've never really dealt with moisturizer. I want a good one that won't be like $80 a month.

Suggestions? I'm using a basic Aveeno one now for clear complexion.

You first need to determine what your skin type is. If you have oily skin you don't want to use one targeted for dry skin and all like that. You also need to decide what you want that moisturizer to do. Are you looking for just a basic moisturizer or do you want one that will target wrinkles, blotchiness, or other concerns? Then go from there.
