And in Strange's solo movie, his time fighting Dormammu is speculated to be going on for a year if not longer. Plenty of time for him to become much stronger with his spells.

 

Where did you get that it was a year? I'm not saying it's wrong. I just hadn't heard or read it.

Is he actually the Sorcerer Supreme? Do they even have one in the MCU?

 

I had a Sorcerer Supreme at one of local the pizza joints. It was ok.

 

They definitely have them in the MCU. The Ancient One was Sorcerer Supreme during "Doctor Strange," but she died. They never actually defined Strange as her successor, I think, so maybe he's not yet. But he showed in that movie that he's an incredibly quick learner when it comes to magic and incredibly powerful even if he doesn't have the title yet.

 

I'll take your word for it. I don't remember them using the actual title.

I know Dr. Strange hasn't taken on that role, at least on screen.

I knew he had the title for a long time in the comics. I believe he surrendered it for a while and got it back. I just didn't remember even hearing the title mentioned in the MCU.

 

Just thought of something ... how did Thanos know he wouldn't die when he snapped his fingers?

 

Scott Derrickson mentioned they cut a line along the lines of Strange telling Dormammu they've been through this thousands of times'. Maybe the year speculation was off, but Strange was certainly in the dark dimension for more than the 20 times or so the movie shows. At least that is what I took from it.

 

In the grand scheme of things, how can anyone know?
