    Bring in Lou! We need some fire in chicago......and get rid of rothschild....im convinced he is the reason for all of the troubles with wood and prior....so hopefully they bring in someone else........

    Who makes the call on who is pitching coach anyway....manager? or GM? or Both.

    It's the manager, within any franchise run by adults.

    I disagree. McClendon simply wasn't the right fit in Pittsburgh from the start.

    He preferred vets, but didn't go to the lengths Baker did -- see Perez, Neifi -- to avoid playing the kids. Then again, when you're tossed into a situation like the Pirates, there's no room for error. You have to play the right guys just to have a chance.

    McClendon seemed passionate about his job, and for all their flaws, his teams never packed it in. Given some talent and the Tribune's fat wallet, he's not a bad fallback option.
