No. THe State's Attorney has constituency that while pissed about the outcomes, expresses appreciation for the trials going forward and they are essentially demanding that the cops go to trial.

The same judge, who is black and a former DOJ attorney who prosecuted excessive force cases, has repeatedly found the State lacks evidence of a crime.

THe prosecutor can lose and remain popular to some, but that is her only base. If she doesn't go forward, she will have no support. BTW the job pays $225,000.00 a year.

The system protects them. That's the point of the protesters.

If there's ever a full-blown revolution in this country (unlikely, I know) the monied few are going to want the cops protecting them and not the revolutionaries. Every now and then we make an example out of one (see: that rapey Oklahoma City motherfucker) but they're the exception and not the rule. Four cops shit beat Rodney King on camera and nothing happened for crissakes.

Doesn't help when the prosecutor is incompetent.

BTW, TSP, what are your thoughts on what happened in Dallas and Baton Rouge?

I still think you hate yourself more than pretty much every person you've met.

What if they're, you know, not guilty ...

Guy just up and died in the back of the van after being arrested for what amounted to looking at an officer funny. Van makes stops that police didn't disclose in reports.

Eh, whaddya gonna do. Accidents happen.

So you don't care that those cops were murdered. Noted.

When is your shift this week? Do you get a bonus for most hateful sign? Drawing blood? Not wearing a shirt?

I'll admit, I haven't followed this case all that closely. But the fact that the judge keeps ruling there's no evidence that the officers are guilty surely is somewhat telling, don't you think?
