Bands or musicians that you like that everybody else seems to hate

Love me some Seger. Started when they would play "Old Time Rock and Roll" after Kansas City Comets wins when I was growing up.

My favorite band of all time? Kiss. Kiss is kool. Some great fucking rock songs. Even their wussy songs are kind of good ("Forever" is awesome).

Does Bryan Adams generally suck? I like his music too.

 

Oh, Bryan Adams sucks, but not as much as KISS. You're the leader in the clubhouse.

Ditto on the Elvis. Love him. On the geography note, you would also be discounting Alabama. Some good music in their catalog. Which I celebrate.

I stand by my rash generalization. And, yes, anybody using the name "Bob Cook" is an idiot, because it's a totally non-searchable and depressing common name, as this musician from Calgary could tell you:

 

I kind of like the Presidents of the United States of America.
America, Springsteen and Southside Johnny = no thank you.

 

A few of my "likes" that haven't been mentioned here yet, that most people don't care for: Bob Dylan (most can't stand his voice), REO Speedwagon and Survivor (people who hate 80s music)

Other likes that have been mentioned thusfar: Springsteen, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Journey, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Bob Seger, Hall & Oates, Abba, and probably one or two others I'm forgetting.

 

Exactly. For my money I don't think it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman."

 

One of my "hip" friends kept going on and on about seeing Ryan Adams in concert a few years back so I kept pissing him off by asking if he played Cuts Like a Knife.

As per Bryan Adams. The guy scored a huge hit with a song about a sexual position, yet he still is seen as lame.

Ryan Adams has actually had a hit? I thought he was just one of those under-the-radar artists that not many people knew about.
