God, you're so perfect. How does it feel to be so perfect that you can keep coming back here to remind the rest of us how stupid we are and how perfect you are? I couldn't imagine that.

    Ha! HARDLY perfect.

It was more a statement that I'm stunned I've never gotten burned by these things, seeing as to how little I read things I sign or take care of my money.

Really wasn't meant to be stuck up. I really did mean I must be living right, because it's never happened.

Of course, having said that, I'll have every account taken out in a week's time.

Well obviously I'll watch that stuff like a hawk from now on - but I SWEAR the B & N lady at the counter never said, "Now check this box for an automatic renewal."

The lesson is not to trust big companies.

hey genius? You probably don't care about such meaningful issues, getting your news from the USAToday and what not, but even getting straight As and doing a million and one after school activities is no sure path to Duke or Harvard. There are interesting articles all around the land about this meaty topic, but to be informed beyond a bite-sized news graph that only confirms your ancient beliefs would be too much for you.

As to your other questions: Why would my parents call me on the carpet about my credit card debt? I'm an adult. They have no need to know or ask about it. And hey, if I did get called on the carpet by them for my debt, wouldn't that prove correct your arrogant, ill-informed stereotype?

As for cursing you out, it's not something I look to do, but hey, a spade's a spade. And an insufferable, clueless, divisive asshole is an insufferable, clueless, divisive asshole.

I get a kick out of you complaining about other people throwing "vile" insults at you when all you do is insult giant groups of people with almost every post you make. Democrats, Muslims, anyone younger than 35 with more than a nickel of debt. Yet you wonder why people yell at you. Poor Hondo. Poor, misunderstood Hondo. Poor, passive-aggressive, why is everybody picking on me Hondo. Poor you.

Hondo's bitterness can be attributed to an impoverished upbringing, crappy jobs and not getting laid in 25 years.

I can't believe I'm gonig to say this, but this is a very good point. Even 10 years ago, when I was a freshman/soph in high school, buddies were worknig at the local GM plant doing odds and ends and making a lot of cash. Now, as JR said, with those jobs disappearing quickly and being replaced by the $2.13 Ponderosa waiter, it's tough. And without a start, and college costs rising quickly, you're behind the 8-ball awfully early on these days.

I make nothing but "very good points"
Talk about a backhanded compliment. :)

    $2.13 an hour? What?
Now I know it's a waiter's job and even up here you don't get minimum wage but $2.13 an hour? Where are you, Bangladesh?

Wow. So, even with tips you might be lucky to make what, $6.00 an hour?

Yeah, you figure, at $8.00 that comes to $320.00 for a 40 hour week (if you get that). So, that works out to about $6400.00 GROSS if you managed five months of work.

But it's so nice people can save $2.00 on soap detergent at Wal-Mart.

    Or buy cheaper clothes.

Hell, we all know if you haven't done it Hondo's way, you haven't done it right. And he wonders why there's so much vitriol hurled his way.

Maybe it's YOU Hondo. Maybe it's YOU!

On a scale of 1 to 10, it's about a 10.5 on the list of credit black marks. Settle with them for $10. You can do it.
What's even funnier is how you can calculate the expense they go to to collect the $25. I guess they pass that on to other customers, but it just shows how common sense doesn't play into corporate math.
