The new King of Swing is what we used.

The last plate was coming out when I went downstairs to talk to the prepress guys. Had the plate already been completed, we were SOL

Any hed with an asterisk is unwarranted as editorializing on a news page.

We're going with 756, although a few want 756* However, we had this discussion yesterday and it was determined that the asterisk was making an editorial statement, so 756 it is (because we apparently suck at headlines).

You sure are critical. You must have something outstanding, new and creative.

My thought exactly. Reads like him, eh?

That being said, I'm glad I was already out of the office before this happened.

On the gamer, yes. But if it's a column, an asterisk is fair game.

The asterisk symbolizes the steroids issue, which is part of the story here. It's part of the news; not only that he broke the record, but that so many people think he did it the wrong way.

There are more ways to use the asterisk than just with "756*."

Agreed. I like how SI used it as the O in Bonds.

Wait, you're shredding everyone else here, and your idea of original and wowing is "Barry's World?"
