How has this not happened yet? Dooley and his impossibly high HOF standards vs. Rick and his "everyone gets a certificate" calculator. Get me some popcorn! :D :D :D

Reggie Jackson struck out way too much to have seriously merited his induction, right Dooley?

Rick, I like Edgar but right now, he pays to get into the Hall. I do rank him behind the Big Hurt in terms of deserving entry tif that means anything to ya.

Joe Tinker has been in the Hall of Fame for the last 63 years. So has Tommy McCarthy.

Ross Youngs has been in for the last 37 years. Travis Jackson for the last 27 years.

Do tell when the Hall had this obscure "value" you speak of.

    Edgar Martinez > Stan Musial?

Yeah, and Ron Hunt's in the top 22 in being hit by pitch. Open the doors. And buckdub, past mistakes (assuming you meant those to be) shouldn't be the standard.

And in case my blue didn't show, Reggie is a slam-dunk Hall of Famer

Lance Berkman is 30th all-time in OBP. Is he a HOFer?

My point is: There IS no standard. Never has been. The standard is whatever we want it to be, and everyone's got their own idea of what it should be.

(And y'all are taking Rick's post way, way out of proportion with the Hunt/Coleman stuff. Just sayin'.)

Maybe there's no written standard, but that doesn't mean that there hasn't been an unofficial standard developed over time. And I think the proportion is perfectly correct. And in that spirit, get Manny Mota's ass in there.
