    Alomar got 73.7 percent. Costas: "I'm sorry, that's the best player on the ballot. The best player on the ballot."

    Wow. I'm stunned. I can't believe Dawson got the highest percentage. That makes no sense whatsoever.

    As a voter, I have to wonder why anyone would submit a blank ballot. It's pretty close to malicious vandalism of the process.

    I am embarrassed for my organization. Most years, the votes are defensible. Not this one. Nothing against Dawson, but Alomar was about four times the player.
