    JC,

I understand the argument that the Hall has dropped its standards. But, can anyone seriously tell me no one deserves a vote? I'd like to see an explanation.

I'm just saying I've read it a few times. I didn't think he was getting in whatsoever because of that.

    Great player? Hell yes.

But he spit in the face of an umpire. I bet bet bet a lot of old-school "baseball" voters felt like Alomar spit in their faces, too.

    From Aaron Gleeman's Twitter feed:

Fun fact: Dawson has worst batting average and worst on-base percentage (by 20 points!) among all Hall of Fame outfielders.

I can't believe Alomar didn't make it, he's arguably the best defensive second baseman of all time. He had to retire early due to injuries so he couldn't get his 3,000 hits. I'd say he's in the top time second baseman of all time, maybe around sixth or seventh.

His best years were arguably with the Jays where he won two World Series.

I really do hope that him spitting in the umpires face didn't have anything to do with this.

Voting is such a complete joke these days.

Remove the 5 blank ballots and you've got 534 instead of 539.
That gives Blyleven 74.9 percent. Still doesn't make it.
Five blanks had no real effect on who got elected.

    Thank you, FH.

I've been ranting about this fossilized bullshite from the overfed, overrated likes of Bill Conlin and his ilk for years. This is garbage, pure and simple.

Watch Alomar get 85-plus% next year. But Andre Dawson in before Alomar? Before Santo? Before Blyleven? Are you freakin' kidding me?

    Buck is right. Epic fail.

And that's the crux of the issue: If he never spit in Hirschbeck's face, he gets in EASILY.

What would be ONE THING that separates EASILY from NO?

On Around the Horn yesterday Mariotti used his 30 seconds to proudly proclaim that he left his card blank because it was too sacred to vote for any of the options. He didn't explain if that meant for any new guys or if he just doesn't think any returning players deserved to be in.

Unless, of course, all five had a particular player's name on them.

very unlikely, although who would you vote next year if the proper people were taken care of this year?

Ridiculous. That pitch was a foot outside, and no one talks about that.
