Oooh, a Monica Lewinsky joke. How deliciously fresh, Jay Leno.

Can you try and work in O.J. next time? :D

    With good reason.

Connie Mack appreciated the talent, but had to give up trying to handle the man.

Dawson is going in as an Expo. He wanted to go in as a Cub.

As he should, was twice the player with the Expos that he was with the Cubs

I think you can make a case for either. More years with Expos. More impact with Cubs.

However, I don't think it's cool that Dawson basically thumbed his nose at Montreal by saying that he wanted to go in as a Cub.

More impact with the Cubs? You're kidding, right?

He was rookie of the year, won six Gold Gloves, was a Silver Slugger three times, and was twice the runner-up in MVP voting with Montreal, a franchise that was a consistent contender while he was with it.

With the Cubs? One MVP, two Gold Gloves, one Silver Slugger, with a franchise that had one plus-.500 season.....and it finished dead-last in his MVP year.

There is NO comparison between the Andre Dawson who was with the Expos and the one who was with the Cubs. He was a much better player with the Expos. He was. He was healthy and a star on the rise. He belongs in the Hall for his days as an Expo more than as a Cub. Sorry Cubs Fans. Rafael Palmeiro might be your best shot at getting a
    Cubbie in.

Dawson with the Cubs was a pretty similar hitter to his prime years in Montreal. He lost a few stolen bases, but he didn't get caught as often and it roughly evened out.

But there was a huge difference in defence, and the fact that he had to move from center to right makes his offensive contributions a lot less valuable.

Rick, if you saw a young, hungry Andre Dawson and compared him to the veteran Andre Dawson, you could really see what I'm talking about. As a youngster, he was a treat to watch. As a veteran, he was still fun to watch but didn't play with the same recklessness.
