    It's going the other way.

What happened to Cabrera? Kinsler tripled to center and then Gardner came in to replace him.

Too bad it's not on here. Getting the glorious Astros-Reds matchup.

Cabrera jammed his glove hand against the CF wall. He either screwed up his wrist or his shoulder.

Don't get me wrong. Hillman does a lot of stupid stuff that I don't understand (like not playing small ball in low-scoring games. But he did tonight). But leaving Greinke in, and walking Pujols despite being the winning run, are decisions that don't get talked about. But when he has Teahen in the No. 3 hole, he gets ripped to shreds.

Thanks for the info. That sucks. Cabrera has been hitting really well this season.

Murray Chass said last month, and rightly, that Cashman and the Yankees are spooked by name relievers because of the money they foolishly pissed away on Steve Karsay years ago (something over $20M). But you have to be better prepared than this. I think this is one element of team-building that takes some real acuity -- any moron with the means can go out and throw gazillions at Sabathia and Teixeira.

I don't think that's true. I think they rightly realized that with most middle relievers, it's a year to year crapshoot. for years, they were paying for last season's great work, getting the down year and then dumping to Oakland or LA at 50 cents on the dollar. They wised up & started building a BP from within (Marte is the obvious exception to both that & Chass'/your point). Still, they should have picked up Cruz or Beimel.

Definitely the shoulder. He grabbed it immediately, then thought to go get the ball and throw it back to the infield. Looked like he might have separated it.

You have to take into consideration how many of those guys were burned out sheerly on the basis of Torre's recklessness. Scott Proctor for one has not and will never be the same. I still see the Yankees trading for some bullpen help -- they will have had the justification that they tried the kids and they weren't getting it done.

Must be the residual good vibes from MU getting to the WCWS.

    Or not.

Weather-shortened wins count as full wins, too. Six wins is good enough for me.

Where's your "L" flag now, Bubbs?

    Yeah.

Thanks to this one-game roll, I'm sure I'll never have to pull it out again. :D

Can we all take time to realize just how historical Greinke's season has been?

    The guy is unbelievable.
