Heh heh, you don't miss a beat. We're on the same frequency.

The White Sox are one of those teams that won't realize what true horseshit they are until June or July.

So Teixeira and A-Rod went back-to-back in the first inning tonight ...
And here is the REAL impact A-Rod has on the Yankees lineup.

Thru May 7, Teixeira was hitting .192 with 5 HRs and 15 RBI in 28 games.
Tonight is his 10th game since then with A-Rod hitting behind him.... he is 12 for 37 with 4 HRs and 12 RBI in those 9+ games and has raised his BA 40 points.

And once they finish off the Twinkies tonight, the Yankees will have won 8 of 10 since A-Rod came back.

And I seem to recall someone saying he would not have that great an impact.

The argument, before OoP kneaded it and twisted the fucking shit out of it, Play-Doh style, as only he can, was that the Angels' returnees will have a far bigger impact than Rodriguez will have. Which they most assuredly will, not only on their team or their race but on the overall balance of power in the AL. Teixeira was bound to start hitting at some point -- he's not going to hit .190 all year, with or without Rodriguez.

Actually, once you changed your argument to include all of the Angels' returnees, I said you were right. Getting Lackey, Santana, Escobar and Guerrero back would do more for the Angels than getting one player, even Rodriguez, will do for the Yankees.

More importantly, there were posters on here and people I have talked to off the board who acted as if Rodriguez wouldn't help at all. That is what I commented on.

In other words, you did all the twisting yourself.

Regarding Teixeira, he is too good to stink that bad all season, but that doesn't mean that Rodriguez's return hasn't had an impact. Even Teixeira has said that pitchers are approaching him differently now.

There's no exaggerating how bad the Nationals bullpen is.

Those are the ones I was referring to

I don't think Escobar will do anything for the Angels. Take any two and those two will have a greater impact on how the rest of the AL schedule plays out than Alex Rodriguez, whose team has gotten fat off the Orioles and Twins in the last two weeks. The one night they faced an honest-to-God elite starting pitcher, Halladay stuck the bat right back up their ass.

And the ones I was referring to in the previous discussion before LJB brought in the Angels' comparison. I'm still not sure how that turned into an argument. I've been saying for a while that nobody should write off the Angels.

That play should end all questions regarding Ryan Braun's play in left field. What a fucking catch.

If you missed it, it'll likely be No. 1 in Web Gems tonight.

How often are they going to face those? Is that the standard? If so, everyone sucks.

    Guy --

I don't think it's too generous to say there's five elite starters in their own division, even if some of those guys aren't pitching like it at the moment. Let's start talking about how dangerous the Yankees lineup is when they can actually beat pitchers like Halladay. People can say what they want about the Cubs, but you knew that lineup had to at least be taken seriously when they kicked the shit out of him last year.
