And another HR for Teixeira ... and you'll never convince that having A-Rod instead of Nick Swisher behind him isn't helping.

When healthy, the Cubs have the best overall batting lineup in the National League (with all due respect to the Phillies and Dodgers). When Zambrano bats, they essentially have an AL lineup.

But they're not all going to be healthy for a while, so that's not going to be an issue. At least Lee and Soto have hit better the past few days.

(Door)Mat Gamel with his first career homer tonight. Won't be his last. And the Brewers have a few more young studs they haven't debuted yet. Wow, what they've done with that franchise is nearly amazing. Not Marlins amazing or 90s Braves amazing, but very damn good.

Or will be once they actually, you know, win something.

Want to reassess the top four of the NL East vs. NL Central again?

This is why, despite his "top prospect" status, I wasn't upset over the Cubs putting him in the Rich Harden package last year. Talented kid, but he hasn't put it together and might never do it.

You're not impressed with how far they've come to this point?

They've become a contender. Good for them.

Maybe, but Halladay's the only one they never hit, no matter how good or bad they are against everyone else.

He's still pissed at Wes Helms.

At least he is acknowledging baseball being played in the Central time zone.

Marlins-D'backs officially washed off the boards; looks like a foot of water in the Dolphins Land Shark Stadium¹ outfield. Doubleheader scheduled Wednesday, but with the tropical system² parked over Florida that's iffy.¹Fins to the left (field), fins to the right (field), there is no game in town.
²Which the National Hurricane Center swears has less than a 30 percent chance of developing into Something Very Bad within 48 hours.
