And to make it worse... Pagan in left field gets in Beltran's way on a drive to left-center by Paul with a man on first...nobody catches it and the Dodgers -- after IBB -- have bases-loaded with no out in the 11th.

Geez, how many ways can you fuck up one innng?

They find yet another way to fuck up. With one out and bases loaded, Hudson grounder to first, runner should be dead at the plate, Jeremy Reed throws the ball away...game fucking over.

Somewhere in the great beyond, Casey Stengel is smiling.

Actually have to give the Mets credit here.
I figured they'd lose on a bases-loaded walk or a wild pitch but they proved to be much more creative when it comes to failure.

    No way.

Those guys lost with style, with a weird sort of poetic grace. They really were that bad.

This is just a horseshit fucking organization that has spent well over $100 million constructing a major league team but is so bereft of intelligence from top to bottom that it doesn't teach players to slide or touch all the bases (or, you know, think ahead enough to realize that their first baseman is 37 years old, so you might want to have better backups in the organization than a 87-year-old guy who was out of baseball for 50 years and a natural centerfielder).

Give Jerry Manuel credit: He's not even trying to make excuses for Church. "The guy missed third base. That's unbelievable. I can't explain why or how or anything. But he actually missed the base...to me it's hard to miss third base."

He also just called Alex Cora the "most cerebal" player the Mets have, offensively or defensively. Jesus Christ. What does that say about that fucking team? That a guy who had abotu six at-bats before last week is the smartest player on the team?

$143 million for a team that plays the game with less intelligence than a collection of misfits did 47 years ago.

They're rerunning Game 4 of the ALCS on MLB right now. If I stayed up really late I'd get to see Tony LaRussa whipped twice in a span of eight hours. Almost worth it.

Psst...might want to add a year to that, to signify it's two jobs and more than a quarter-century ago. :D
