    I enjoyed it.

And I think the AL East is good, but perhaps not as good as recent years, though I think it is going to be a dogfight. All the teams have holes this year.

    And fuck you too.

The Santos kid sat fastball and got one and did what Wright and Reed couldn't do, good for him. Tip your hat and move on.
Pelphrey and Beckett looked good tonight.
Wright made a hell of a play to turn tying run 90 feet away, winning run at second, 0 outs into man at first one out, instead it looks like JJ Putz filled in seamlessly.

    No big deal.

KP, Spnited was trying a vilification bank shot. His REAL target was Yankee fans (like Mad Dog-less Mike) who build up the Red Sox to a) feel better about the Yanks and b) dump on the Mets. Sox fans are merely collateral damage, not that I think he minds.

Is this to let Ortiz just focus on DH, if it were to happen?

  6. To answer my own question posed a couple of pages back - June 15 is the the date when free agents signed during the offseason can be traded.

I apologize if someone answered this earlier.

So, if the Nats do trade Johnson for Delcarmen (the Nats are denying it, so I believe it could happen) - should a Nats fan be happy?
If you could count on Johnson to stay healthy, he's a quality player. But you roll the dice every day with him.

Moddy, I can see this deal happening, and then see the Nats trade Delcarmen to a contender for a few 5th-round draft picks, and here we go all over again with "What the hell are the Nats trying to do?"

Moddy, Delcarmen is a competent reliever a grade below closer-class. From the Nats point of view, this makes him Rollie Fingers.

Phils-Yanks game just began with a 6-3 putout.

Does the Elias Sports Bureau track every imaginable stat about baseball, as in, how many games since 1900 have begun with a 6-3 putout? How many have begun with a flyout to the CF. How many have begun with a homer? And so on.

That would be an interesting list to see what the most common occurrence is to start a baseball game.

    That's a relief then.

BTW, listening to the radio pre-game, had the replay been inconclusive last night, the game would have ended on the Santos "double" as the Mets third base coach grabbed Sheffield in an attempt to hold him at third. (Which now explains why Francona came out of the dugout after the ruling.)
