Good to see that Luke Hochevar had a better outing tonight than he's had of late.

    7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 4 BB and 2 K.

That was staggering. Three sick-looking strikeouts. He's been gone so much of this season I almost forgot how great Joakim Soria is when he's on. When healthy, I'd take him over any closer in baseball.

The Rays could steal 250 bases. It's Whiteyball, American League version.

    Lincecum was spectacular tonight.

Oh, and did I mention, the Mets suck.

If the Giants can make a couple moves before the trade deadline, it should be interesting to see if they can dog it out with the Dodgers in the NL West.

With how the NL East looks, San Francisco could be a legitimate wild card team.

Andre Ethier with a walk-off two run blast to win it in the bottom of the 13th.

So last night's game was the 110th time Mariano Rivera has recorded a save of more than 1 IP.

Here's the list of leaders: http://www.baseball-reference.com/blog/archives/1831

    He's higher than I thought.

The most recently active on that list ahead of Mo retired in 1997.

    Tres impressive.

Much harder to do today, I think.

Very much harder. Even if Mo wants to go out there in the 7th like Gossage or Fingers -- and I wouldn't put it past him -- no manager in the world would let him.

And now Meche is dealing with a "dead arm." Yeah, leaving him in for over 130 pitches was a wonderful idea.
