Sheffield hurt against Braves. Not sure what happened, but he took a long time to get to the dugout. Limping severely.

He won't be able to keep this up, but it's certainly fun to watch.

AP says Sheff grabbed his right thigh after the play. Probably a hamstring or something.

Step Right Up And ... ;D

Sox DFA Julio Lugo, ending Theo's fantasy baseball-like obsession with the guy that goes back to when he first came up.

Speaking of Thome, he's got two homers and 7 RBIs tonight.

Apparently, it was just cramps with Sheffield.
    Day to day.

And I'm sure, with Francoeur batting behind him to give him protection, he'll race right out to be back in that lineup tomorrow.

The Rays don't really deserve to win tonight against the Royals, but Burrell and Longoria have hit two-run homers in the seventh and eighth innings respectively to give them an 8-7 lead.

    Well, I was wrong.

Jones hits a solo shot -- the ball went out of the park and bounced into the river -- to win it in the bottom of the 14th.

Clay Buchholz is a bad, bad man.

    5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 ER, 3 K

The Red Sox need to get rid of Smoltz or Penny so they can get this kid in the rotation.

All of his pitches were working pretty well, mind the three walks. He threw 64% of his pitches for strikes, but hey, he only allowed one run. For a guy who hasn't pitched in the majors for awhile, that was a pretty solid outing.

But, in other news, Chris Carpenter was once again dominant.

Men on 2nd and 3rd. Ball bounds from the catcher, runners start toward their next bases. Then the ball goes into the dugout.

Is the runner who is running from second to third given home plate?
