Leyland's been doing it with smoke (a pack a game?) and mirrors.

    Tigers 2006 = Orioles 2005

I don't think they could have made this deal a month ago. Nevin was hitting too well. Since then pitchers have realized he only has a slider-speed bat.

Yes it does.  Also shows that some  Yankee pitching staff is better in big ball parks.

One of real benifits of many Yankees being off at World games in ST was that the youngsters got to be in the spotlight more than they would have been.  Its paying off now with way Cabrera , Cano and Phillips are playing.

Casty - up or down right now - you voting Mcguire on your first ballot?

Tigers' pitching may have more longterm talent, especially since the Orioles screwed up by letting BJ Ryan go to the Blue Jays.

That's somewhat of an apt comparision. Last year's O's could rake. This year's Tigers can pitch.

And this year's Tigers will finish below .500 as well.

Boom, I posted this a while back. As of right now, I'd say no. Unless something drastic happens to change my mind -- and I can't imagine what that could be -- I won't vote for McGwire.

I don't know if it does. Johnson and Mussina did what they were supposed to do. The Tigers hit a couple of long drives against Johnson, but they were caught... Sheffield made a good play on it. So instead of Johnson blowing up in an inning, he gets out of it and pitches well. I think it's more of a case that the Yankees getting themselves together.

I think you're probably right. Some of the scores can be misleading a little. Like Wednesday's game, it was 3-0 going into the eighth, but the Yankees score four (or something like that) in the last two innings and win 8-0.

The Tigers were due to hit a rough spot after the last couple of weeks. Their real need right now is a left handed bat.

The Tigers may not make the playoffs, but they'll contend for a spot all year.

  12. Forget the Tigers / Yankees - what about the White sox recently dropping 2 out of 3 to the Devil Rays?
