am i the only one who thinks people read too much into a three-game series? over a 162 game season, three games are statistically meaningless. i understand the ramifications on the standings, but it's not like an NBA game where you can see which team has the better matchups. even an ace pitcher will have a subpar game and that subpar game could come the next time he faces the same team he just dominated. i just don't think you can read much into this type of thing like the sox losing to the rays or tigers-yankees.

Maroth needs surgery for his throwing elbow. I agree that too much might be made of the Yankees potential four-game sweep other than the fact that no one should be crying for the Yankees, however, the Tigers are in a bad stretch right now.

"Omar just shareefs one," said Berman.

    Oh, dear.

You're exactly right. Maybe later in the year, a three-game series means a little more, but in early June, not so much.

normally this argument holds up. but we're talking about the tigers, who could have made a statement with this 4-game stand against the bombers. to be swept is not a good sign. i'm thinking it might be the start of the end for motown.

With Mariano Rivera nursing a sore back, Kyle Farnsworth just blew the save for the Yankees. I'm shocked--SHOCKED, I tell you.

Carl Crawford left the game against Baltimore early tonight. After a play at the plate where he ran into the foot of Ramon Hernandez, he jumped up obviously upset with the call and came down funny and immediately fell to the ground.

Baseball Tonight became annoying, so I watched the first two minutes of the Rock Me Tonite video.

    That was more than enough.

You need to watch it the whole way thru to appreciate the genius.

Plus, the altenative is Baseball Tonight. C'mon, the video is MUCH better than that.

I think I need to be intoxicated to watch the whole thing. The combination of those same three chords and the awful "dancing" is too much.

Hell of an article here by Dave Sheinin. The guy is very good at what he does, no doubt about it. When will someone make him a columnist?

    Thanks Wagner!

Wednesday night was just strength on strength. Brandon Webb is damn near unhittable.
