Hey, I know somebody who hurt their back that way. Couldn't move for a week. Not a professional athlete, but still, it's not as ridiculous as it sounds.

Rivera did pitch three innings on Wednesday, so that might have had something to do with it as well.

  3. The Rockies as onward Christian soldiers thread made me think of a question that I think belongs here - is Todd Helton a Hall of Famer (or is he on the path to the HoF)?

I think he is but am curious what others think.

Rivera threw 25 pitches in 3 innings on TUESDAY. Got the night off Wednesday when Mussina pitched a complete game. No effect on his back spasms.

That's not how the revisionist historians will look at it if Rivera ends up on the shelf.

    Just watch.

Doesn't make you any less right.

Oh you're right. Just trying to coax the Yankee fans back in off the ledge. ;)

A lot of Yankee fans are scared they might finish in last place if they don't have Rivera to finish games.

i wonder if gagne gets the closer job in LA or if baez keeps it until he blows it. i'd think given gagne's history this year and last, he doesn't get to be closer right away. he was incredible for three straight years but he hasn't been that eric gagne since 2004.

I think he needs another upward spike to get there. Helton's numbers are outstanding, but some voters will definitely count the fact that half of them were put up in Coors Field against him.

I think Baez sufficiently blew it tonight.
speaking of which, Chase Utley went 8-for-8 with six runs tonight. is that some kind of record? it's insane.

and by the way, fuck yeah, he's on my fantasy team.

Didn't Baez blow like four in a row earlier this season?
