  1. Sort of a rules question here - you cannot do a sign and trade in MLB but how long do you have to wait until you can trade a free agent you signed in the off season? Is it six months?

    I'm pretty sure it's June 15, Lou.

It is June 15, though a player can be traded w/his consent prior to that date.

In other news, can one of our Cubs fans explain to me when Glendon Rusch became the Fat Bastard? Holy smokes that dude got heavy.

Considering Rusch has always sucked, does it really matter if he's fat, too.

Hey now he was pretty good for the Mets in 2000.

Then they thought they had a perennial 15-game winner, even though he didn't come close to 15 wins in 2000, and he promptly crapped out, thereby beginning a career-long trend of crapping out whenever a team expects anything out of him.

strained UNL ligament... same thing that has shut down A.J. Burnett much of 2006. Harden's probably done for the year.

I'll second that. A very interesting look at the potential pitfalls of studdom...and proof you don't need much time with the subject to craft an outstanding feature.

Thought I'd correct that. Stand-up guy, though.

Mets just traded Kaz Matsui for Eli Marrero.

    Wow, talk about your blockbusters.

The balance of power in the NL shifts.

Actually, though, I like that move for the Mets.

It was never going to happen for Kaz in NY.
