Morneau's hitting .388 and no one's talking about it?

How long will the Braves hold on to Reitsma? He fed his gopher again today, and that sucker must be real fat by now.

Ramirez got lit up, too, and then hit in the head. He walked off the field on his own, but apparently now thinks he's John Smoltz.

    I'm sorry, I shouldn't kid about that.

The notion of a "soft" .388 is definitely a joke, whether accidental or intentional. Can't argue much with the man's stance on silly stats like runs created, though.

Mauer, with a 1--for-4 toaday including strikeout with the bases loaded:

    RISP: 15 hits, 46 ABs (.326), 11 Ks (1/4.2 AB)
    All other ABs: 66 hits, 164 ABs (.402), 21 Ks (1/7.8 AB)

BA is 78 points lower with men in scoring position; K ratio nearly twice as high with runners in scoring position.
5 HRs, 4 with bases empty. 30 RBI from the No. 3 hitter in the lineup

    Soft?

Safe to say Pedro's seven starts winless streak is about to end...
    Mets 13, D'Backs 0 middle of fifth.

Will lead by 6½ going into Philly on Tuesday

He's slugging .540 something, .160 higher than his batting average and .100 higher than Ichiro when he hit .370. Tell anyone in the league -- hitters or coaches -- that .370 or .380 can carry a "soft" caveat and they'll laugh their heads off. People hit that high once a generation for a reason -- it's near impossible.

I'll give Mr. Nited this -- George Brett slugged .650 something when he hit .390 and Ted Williams, I believe, was over .700 when he hit .400. But come on. If he hits .385 all season, and the deck is stacked humungously against him, there won't be anything soft about it.

Steve Phillips just said that the center fielder should call off everyone for fly balls.

In other news, cancer is bad.

    Canoga Park?

Might be the first and last time anyone referenes Canoga Park. Man, is that obscure.

Unless, of course, there's a Canoga Park in D.C. ...
