You'll understand, won't you, if the Mets hold off for a while on accepting your good wishes?

    I'm feelin' silver.

If you can't get outs from the No. 4 starter ... and your cleanup hitter is scratching to get to .240 ... and now your lockdown relievers don't get it done ... you're talking about a .500 team. At best.

If the Mets beat the Nats tonight, they will by 3 1/2 up with 17 to play. And we all kow what happened in the last 17 games last season.

Meanwhile, the future closer of the Mets recorded save No. 56 today and extended the Yankees misery even further.

I am once again rooting for the Cubs out of self-interest against St. Louis. I want the Cardinals to be deader than Dillinger.

Of course being the Cubs, they're a bunch of fuckos, and can't even win for my self-interest last night or probably tonight either. Dammit.

The future closer of the Mets WEARS No. 56 - Luis Ayala.
    You are welcome.

If the Mets can't kick Odalis Perez' ass, they don't deserve it.

Eager to see if Pelfrey puts one in Dukes' ear leading off the next inning.

You mean like they're doing now, Moddy?

Yes. They're about to put it away, which will make it easier to drill Dukes.

OK, I missed why they should be drilling Dukes.

I will say they appear to be a different team these days. They have been plenty of situations in the last 45 days for them to implode and they've held strong and occasionally won games they had no business winning.

It also helps to trot Santana every fifth day to keep those bad losing streaks at bay.

He pulverized one in the second, a serious monster of a home run. That should have been satisfaction enough for him. But he turns to the Mets dugout and blows a kiss. Kiss that one good-bye.
So even as a Nats fan, I hope they connect with the ear flap. I got no use for that shit.

The great thing about tonight is it should remove all doubt about whether they should bring Perez back. I hope they score 10 more.

Blue Jays telecast last night was the highest-rated game in 8 years.
