Papelbon has struggled lately and has shown injury issues in his career. I guess he just isn't that true door-slammer anymore.

Why does everything have to be phrased in a manner that can allows you to prove you were right in an earlier discussion?

Wow, Angola, I expected better from you. But since you seem to need this spelled out for you.

Percival is 39 years old. He has been on the DL three times this season, his first full one back after being all-but-retired in 2006. And he has had three bad outings out of four in the eight days since his latest return from injury. Anybody counting on him as a closer for next season is a fool.

Papelbon is 27. To compare his durability to Percival's this point is ridiculous. He had one bad outing. Before that, he hadn't given up an earned run since July 13. Yeah, he's really struggling. ::)

Because I like being proven right. It's fun. And Percival's performance tonight helped prove me right.

Most of the Bright House cable customers in Central Florida should have been able to get it on the Ion affiliate --- which, for the record, is presented in sucktastic fashion on Bright House. Even worse, there's a big chunk of Central Florida cable customers that can't watch the Rays' games on FSN Florida because Bright House refuses to pick that network up in Orlando and points east.

OK, how about this aging closer instead: Mariano Rivera.

Hell, everyone from the Bronx to the West Coast to SportsJournalists.com to SOSH said he was done. D-O-N-E. Done. After the 2004 ALCS.

Hmm, he seems to have done pretty well lately.

He's battled lots of injuries the last couple of years.

I guess the Yankees should dump his old, injured ass because he gave up a couple of runs the other night. God, he's a piece of shit.

Bring K-Rod to New York! To the other side! Him and ARod can choke the joint up together!

At the end of the 2004 ALCS, Rivera was 33-years-old. Percival is now 39. He had set a career high with 53 saves that season, with a 1.96 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. He was also clearly in better shape than Percival is now. It was ridiculous to assume Rivera was done after that season.

Percival's ERA for the season rose to 5.01 tonight. He has 28 saves. He pitched well early, but it sure seems like being out of shape his him breaking down late. He had trouble staying healthy when he was younger and in better shape.

Sorry, Angola, another comparison that doesn't hold up at all.

See, the problem with you OOP is: You think everything on this thread is about you.

I apologize to everyone else for getting involved. I normally try to steer clear of it.

You are the one who just made it about me, Angola. All I did was shred your arguments.

    Absolutely retarded statement there, too.

Injury issues have only been a problem in 2006 when the Sox wayy overused Papelbon. You should know that from your precious Joba Chamberlain.
