You can use 189 K's or an on base of .328 if it makes you feel better. (Incidentally, that OBP puts him 113th in the league, down there with Kevin Millar and Lastings Milledge.)

I agree with Gee. The Ks and low BA and OBP are troubling, but they shouldn't totally obscure his ridiculous power numbers. Howard is paid to be a run producer, and he does that. Aside from leading the league in HR and RBI, he's at his best when there are ribbies to be had.

    w/RISP: .303/.420/.545
    RISP, 2 outs: .310/.442/.500

Howard's job is to produce runs. He has. I do not believe he has excelled enough at his job to be MVP, but he certainly should be on the top 10 in the balloting.

Clearly appreciative of your support, Howard hits a 2-run bomb of Ben Sheets in the first inning for 2-0 lead in a game the Phils badly need.

What about Ryan Ludwick? He's put up some impressive numbers. Ludwick, however, probably wouldn't have produced those numbers if it wasn't for Pujols. If Ludwick was in, for say, the Dodgers line-up, he probably wouldn't have those same numbers.

    Ludwick: .296 BA, 33 HR, 101 RBI, .585 SLG%

His OBP of .370 is rather low, but I think this guy deserves to be in the top 10 for MVP voting this year.

You Red Sox fanbois really need to get a clue.

And Oop, just because you say you're right doesn't automatically make it so.

Come on, GB, 'Gola was off target with that one.

It was fun while it lasted, though.

Is the kid who nearly flunked out in the first semester and pulled straight A's in the second semester to pass for the year the class valedictorian?

Whether you think he sucked by coincidence until shortly after Randolph got fired or not, there's no disregarding the hole the Mets fell into b/c of Delgado's abject suck. If he showed up in the first half, they'd be out front by 15 games. Instead, they're going to have to go down to the wire to win it.

If I had a vote, he wouldn't be in my top 10. And if it went beyond the top 10, he wouldn't be in my top 40.

Exaggeration for the sake of making a point is never off target.

One bad outing doesn't mean Papelbon's not going to be Boston's closer.

Percival being off target because of a bad back caused by warming up three or four different times last night isn't going to stop him from being the same for Tampa Bay.

    ... which is unfortunate.

Maddon and Percival go back too far for Maddon to pull the plug at this point.
