Except that was just the latest bit of evidence against Percival. What excuse do you want to throw out there for the two other lousy outings since his return from the DL?

I am starting to wonder if the Rays might not just be better off sticking Percival in a middle relief role and letting Wheeler close. Not that I trust Wheeler, but at least there is a very good chance that he can make it through an inning healthy. Percival, not so much. And in a game where Balfour and Wheeler set Percival up, that leaves somebody you don't want out there with the game on the line the next time the old man tweaks something mid-inning. The Rays got away with it last night. They might not be so fortunate next time.

And GB, of course me saying it doesn't make me right. But the evidence does keep piling up in my favor on this one. I wish it wouldn't. I love the story of what the Rays are doing, not to mention Percival's comeback. I just think that if he hasn't hit the end of the road already, he is likely to do it before he can pitch another full season.

Pretty good if the Twins keep wasting efforts like the one they got out of Liriano today. If you get a start like that and Duckworth started for the other team, you should come away with a victory.

    Yup.

Now, Toronto, I need some runs.

    Make it happen.

If Bud wasn't totally in the tank for the Brewers this series would have been moved to a neutral site.

It's my understanding they'll play one on Sunday and two on Monday and the Cubs' last off day of the season will be Saturday.

[blue]Oh stop it. His family no longer holds any stake in the Brewers. He is as impartial as one can be.[/blue]

So, just to be clear, you are now advocating Wheeler over Percival to be the Rays' closer?

When did this discussion evolve from the Rays needing/not needing/ability/inability to sign K-Rod, and into Percival needing to be ousted?

I said I was wondering and acknowledged that I don't trust him. My opinion of him hasn't changed. But Percival is struggling and even worse, a big risk to hurt himself again every time he steps on the mound.

Right now, Balfour is the best reliever on that team, but they don't seem to believe he can close games.

In other words, it is more a reflection on how brittle Percival is right now than any real faith I have in Wheeler.

I read on the Cubs web site, there's no neutral site to go to.

The Cubs asked the Astros to play at Miller Park, which wasn't available in any case, and the Astros, knowing full-well it would be a home-field advantage for the Cubs if it was, told them to pound sand.

I don't think this can be blamed on Bud, and they way the Brewers are playing, they're beyond help anyway.

Half the stadiums in MLB are available. There are plenty of options.

In fact, didn't Miller Park host the Indians-Angels last year?

    And the Metrodome!

Yes. That said I can understand why Houston wouldn't want to play there or St. Louis
