I am, too. For selfish reasons. :D

Cubs finish No. 1 + Brewers win WC + Dodgers have worst division-winner record = Cubs come to L.A. for Games 3 and 4 of NLCS.

    Wouldn't that be NLDS?

This just in: Kerry Wood is officially a closer. This was his third high-wire act 9th-inning save this week. Last week, he got Pujols to pop out with the winning run on second (and the tying run on third). Tonight, he struck out Fielder (who had earlier hit 2 HR) with the tying run on third and the winning run on first.

This reminds me of the Mitch Williams high-wire acts of 1989.

Crimson is singing that cheesy Steve Goodman victory song (which he's known for 25 years, given it was WGN-720's theme music for years) in an effort to corrupt his 19-month-old and pass along Cubbie fanboidom to another generation, despite the best efforts of his wife who roots for some team managed by a guy with a toothpick fetish.

    Garza on 3 days tomorrow.
Wakefield 0-1, 2.77 vs. TB this year
Garza 1-1, 4.15 vs. BOS this year

    NLDS, I mean. Good catches.

FYI, tonight was Sabathia's first NL loss.

IIRC, the Cubs are the only team to win when Sabathia starts. It's happened twice (they also won a game in July when Sabathia pitched, but got a ND).

(also ... Manny Parra to the pen, Dave Bush into his spot -- and I assume Seth McClung into the rotation -- for the Crew).

The Marlins apparently hate hurricane victims too.

Rays have to win tomorrow to have a realistic chance to win division.

Not necessarily. They still hold a three-game series against the ChiSox next week and then the Royals, both at home.

Not many people can stop Ryan Howard in September. The way it's shaking out, if the Phillies win the NL East or wild card, another Howard-Pujols showdown for NL MVP could shape up.
