No Ken's a good guy and I respect his usually informed opinion. Can't say the same for you. Here's what he said (and it isn't exactly what you said. In fact, it's not even close):

"Keep in mind that, in high-profile free agency cases like this, the Players Association also plays a role" and he goes on to say that, in his opinion, the union "leaned heavily" on Thome.

Thome doesn't seem that miserable. Maybe he does a good job of hiding it?

So you were really protecting the players the union somehow persuaded into relocating in exchange for better contracts? Of course. See, I thought what you said was that the union made guys' lives miserable if they didn't take a bigger deal?

And if by "betterment of the union" you mean helping to establish a better negotiating climate for the next comparable guy that comes along, yeah, that's exactly what the union tries to achieve. It's not really a secret.

How far you think that slam went? He got all of it!
Of course, the Nats pen could very easily give it all back. So I better get my yuks in while I can.
    I do love Aaron Heilman.

What the fuck? Two outs, winning run at third, bottom nine -- and Matt Diaz BUNTS? Seriously?

You're hitting .314, facing a fastball pitcher, and you fucking bunt? Smacked it straight to Gonzalez at first for an easy 3u. Fucking fuck fuck.

On to the 10th in Atlanta. Goddammit.

My son said the same thing - watching it on game tracker. Was it a real, live bunt or an oops, excuse me, swinging bunt?
No WAY he meant to bunt?

Yeah, he laid one down like he was Otis Fucking Nixon. Defense was playing back, but still -- that was a turrrrible decision.

Hit the damn baseball. You're a .300 hitter.

    Yeah, that's purty fucking stupid.

Nats implosion has started. Cubs are back within 9-4 and Heilman is out of the game in favor of VCU product Sean Marshall (one of three VCU guys playing in the majors but we've been over that one).

I like how you turn "leaned heavily" into some kind of positive euphanism, as if there's no bullying at all that goes on there.

I also am not surprised that I presented you with facts from respected writers (i.e. people with daily bylines to whom you can kiss up) and you managed to come up with some way to spin it to fit your hole-ridden theory. I would expect nothing less out of the biggest celebrity worshipper on this site.

However, we have this in common: I also think far better and far higher of Ken Davidoff than I do of you. Though he's really not alone there.

Except they are determined to prove he can be a 200-inning starter when the evidence suggests he is simply not cut out for that role. So yeah. They are going to drastically shorten his career if they keep this up.

There have got to be some Pirates fans here, right? Andrew McCutchen, who misplayed a ball in the top of the ninth to allow the go-ahead run to score, homers off Brad Lidge in the bottom of the ninth for the win.

Zack Greinke is on my list of people to see play live.

14 K's (ties Gubicza's team mark) through 7 against the Indians. And he is DEALING.
