I swear Madson is a mental midget. He's throwing 99 and Brandon Moss, who has been on the bench all night, can't come close to catching up to it. What does Madson do then? Shake off fastball for a change-up he proceeds to hang over the middle of the plate which Moss deposits in the right CF seats.

Good thing the Phillies have Ryan Howard then, huh?

    Yes, you do.

When some damn fool calls you to complain that your stories are going to cost his kid a college scholarship because you're giving too damn much credit to the running back and not enough to his kid, the tight end (who's actually too small for his position) ... you'll regret that there are idiots in the world. And you'll also regret that they're not quite idiotic enough to be confused by the task of using the telephone.

Hell of a stat that MLB Network put up tonight.

Teams without a 4-game losing streak all season (since 1965):

    1965 Orioles (3rd in AL)
1970 Orioles (1st in AL East, won WS)
1971 Tigers (2nd in AL East)
1980 Yankees (1st in AL East; lost in ALCS)
1994 Royals (3rd in AL Central; strike year)
    2009 Angels ... so far.

Your random stat nuggets on this thread might be the greatest thing ever.

    That's an amazing stat.

That is some stat. The common thread, besides having strong teams, must be having a truly dominant pitcher (or two) to be a stopper and prevent long L streaks.
