After getting their hearts ripped out in St. Pete last weekend, the Rangers have won 3-of-4 and just took a series in the Bronx. They're not going away.

Not with these Angels. They rank 12th in the AL with a 4.89 ERA. No starter has an ERA below 4. They're racking up the Ws b/c of a red-hot offense. But that approach almost never works in October, when I'll bet you the Angels have a three- or four-game losing streak. You know, like they always do that time of year.

Basically, the Angels have become the late-90s Rangers.

And the Rangers have random, nameless, faceless kids racking up ERAs in the 2s and 3s...though Dustin Nippert is still Dustin Nippert, as proven again today.

While Michael Young is the only regular Texas batter above .300. It's bizarro baseball in the AL West!

Does it suck worse to be a Cubs fan or a Mets fan?

Even things go well for the Nats - Nyjer Morgan breaks his hand. See you in 2010.
    Fuck.

Hey, we had no claim on being good this year. The Nats don't tease their fans and then die. They were dead from the start.

You say that now, but 61-101 will be oddly painful after you allowed yourself to dream about 63-99.

    Good point.
But, hell, I spent most of the season praying for 41.

Morgan really did change the dynamic of that team. They were better on offense, better on defense. Headfirst into third on a steal and broke that baby.

Who's going to take a flyer on Brad Penny now that he's released?

You figure someone will, especially with rosters due to expand in a week.
