    Hope this isn't a mid-thread d_B ...

Before pitching for Baltimore in Friday's 13-4 win over Cleveland, Cla Meredith had pitched in 33 consecutive losses.

    Meredith sure hasn't helped: in those 33 games, his line is 0-2, 4.93 ERA, 38.1 IP, 42 H, 21 R, 16 BB, 20 K.

And Young's longest string was 17 games -- his final 3 appearances in 1992 and his first 14 in 1993. After the streak broke (on 5/22/93), he then promptly appeared in 10 consecutive team losses. Crazy.

Terry Felton's teams, meanwhile, went 6-49 in his 55 career appearances. His longest string of consecutive losses was 24 -- stretched out between 1981-83!

Is there a chance it is someone the Angels drafted this year? I'm pretty sure that you can't trade a guy for a year after the draft.

I figured Young hadn't been in 33 straight losses, but losing 27 straight decisions has to be more draining.

I'm cool with this. I mean, who needs it?

Geez, TSP, this is a 2-year-old story. Reggie complained about the way he was portrayed after the first private screening of the ESPN movie...before it even hit the air.

I know Cleveland is a little behind the times, but 2 years?

1992: Oakland traded Jos Canseco to Texas for Reuben Sierra, Jeff Russell, Bobby Witt, and $400,000 cash.

You forgot to mention The A's also gave the Rangers a steroid to be named later.
Sounds like the $400,000 cash was the best part of that deal.
And wasn't that the start of the Reuben Sierra World Tour? I remember reading something in the mid-1990s about how he was getting paid by about 10 different teams in two or three different leagues. They'd sign him, he'd suck, they'd cut him and have to pay off his guaranteed contract. Not a bad living if you can swing it.
