Not sure if this is where I should put this, but it's what I've got. Tim Cowlishaw identifies with Josh Hamilton maybe a little more than most of us. Congrats to him for putting himself out there.

Damn. That's a great column by Cowlishaw.

Without sermonizing, he makes the essential point: We're much, much too quick to lionize someone for getting sober and much, much too quick to pounce on someone who relapses -- or even someone who decides to have a drink.

    Well done.

Wow. Great column. Not even close to the "me, me, me" kind of column I was fearing when I clicked on the link.

    Thanks for the link, IJAG.

And Jon Lester is 25, no longer a baby. He was pretty much cruising. So he gave up a HR to A-Rod. He threw 109 pitches. No reason he can't pitch the 8th in a game you absolutely MUST win.

Do we know for a fact that Lester was pulled for pitch-count situations and not just because they thought he wouldn't be effective anymore?

Well, he certainly wasn't struggling. Yankees had Hairston (Matsui PH)-Jeter-Damon to start the eight. Hairston was 1-2; Jeter 1-3; Damon 0-3. Lifetime entering the game Hairston 0-1; Jeter 7-20 .350; Damon 7-19 .368, 2 HR

Well, I guess we'll know where Rios is going soon enough.

Mentioned earlier that the White Sox are the team. Apparently, they've been in talks all day.

Yeesh. Straight salary dump. Rios to White Sox for nothing. Like Gord Ash dropping Randy Myers on San Diego.
