Jesus. Does Pudge not play for the Tigers anymore. I'm way behind.

Traded to the Yankees at least year's deadline, then signed with the Astros late in spring training.

Are the Cubs so desperate for a new closer that they would turn to an old one? I'm sure the Indians wouldn't mind unloading Kerry Wood, and with his bloated contract, he should have no trouble passing through waivers.

Cubs don't have the payroll flexibility for that.

I hear John Smoltz is still around. ::)

They won't bring Wood back. And it's not like he's setting the world on fire anyway. Of course I'd rather have one shitty year of Kerry Wood as opposed to one uber-shitty year of Kevin Fucking Gregg.

And Smoltz would be a mistake too. There's no reason to try and run out and grab another closer at this point. Marmol was going to get the job eventually anyway. Might as well sink or swim with him.

Agreed. Or go with Guzman and leave Marmol and Grabow in the set-up roles.

Wood has been every bit as bad as Gregg. He has blown five saves in 20 chances. Gregg has blown six in 29.

Here's some more bad news for Twinkies fans: Jason Kubel just left the game after fouling one off his left kneecap.

Orioles aren't going to be the rest of the ALE's shitrag in three or four years.
