Physioc said the other night they're hitting something like .317 since the break.

The Red Sox just got a gift call. The umpiring has been atrocious in this series.

.312 since the break, .316 in the month of July, .317 in the last two weeks. Amazing.

Top three teams in the A.L., by average:

    1. Angels, .291
    2. Yankees, .278
    3. Twins, .271

League average is .266, lowest it's been since 2002.

    That's some divide between 1 and 2.

There's good. There's really good. And then there's Cliff Lee in the NL good:

    @SF (W, 1-0) 9 IP, 1 ER
    Col (W, 2-0) 7 IP, 1 ER
    Chc (W, 3-0) 8 IP, 1 ER
    Arizona (W, 4-0): 9 IP, 0 ER

    NL ERA: 0.818

Yeah, I'm going into fanboylooser mode, but he's just been freaking amazing. In four games he's got more hits (5-for-13) than runs allowed (4, with 3 of them earned).

Now, admittedly, Sabathia did it for a longer stretch and for a team desperate to make the playoffs.

Kruk was just talking about the Phillies lineup, too. Wow, they are filthy.

    This team could repeat.

They're 6 games up. The air of desperation is completely nonsensical.

This Cardinals-Dodgers series has been great to watch.

It's interesting to see how the Cardinals broadcast clearly puts extra money into its coverage.

AP says Gwinnett's Tim Hudson will start against Charlotte's Jake Peavy on Sunday. Hell of a Triple-A matchup there.
