Given how well your predictions about their regular season have panned out, you may have just clinched the World Series for them.

If anybody is reading this in Bristol, please go find Buck Showalter and hit him with a maple bat.

And don't have Jeff Francoeur do it for you.

    Hehe.

I should have been more specific. I meant this season. Must be nice to be able to go out and buy the best hitter and the best pitcher on the free agent market. Seems to be working out okay for them this time around.

Does Jim Rice's voice carry a bit more weight in the discussion in that guys who wear baggy pants and sport deadlocks are a bad example for today's youth? Are guys who wear baggy pants and sport deadlocks doomed?

Ahh yes. Let the record show who started the salary cap battle this time. :)

Still lots of season (not enough for Joe Mauer to lose the AL MVP though [/cross threading]) and plenty of time for a non-big market team to make a lot of noise. We'll see how it all shakes out for the Yankees and how those big purchases handle the cauldron of October. Burnett sure didn't provide much hope today, Sabathia has been awful two straight Octobers and Teixiera hasn't exactly ripped it up in clutch situations this year.

The beauty of big-money teams like the Yankees and Red Sox is that with so much money to spend on rosters, they can afford to have flawed rosters and still make the playoffs time after time after time. They do have a much greater margin for error to work with.
