Bucky's at the Cards-Padres game. Facebook update says Smoltz has 7 straight K's.

AL record (4 guys, 5 times, twice by Ryan) is 8 straight.

NL and overall record is 10 straight by Seaver in 1970 (spnited just got a boner and knows why).

If he gets to 11, we may need a mop to collect what is left of Bucky.

The bigger question on the Mets' triple play is, why in the hell were the runners going in the first place? A single probably has the same effect as what you're trying to accomplish (one run in, plus the tying run in scoring position). So why would you even risk that in that situation? Unless Francoeur screwed up by swinging when he shouldn't have, that's just bad managing.

Can anyone remember the last time a Yankees-Red Sox Sunday game wasn't on ESPN in prime time?

It has to be years. Give it a fucking rest, if only for one weekend.

Because the Giants-Rockies or Rangers-Rays is going to draw ESPN a bigger number? Not happening.

    Cubs-Dodgers would come close.

Have you not seen the Mets this year? First and second, no outs is a DP waiting to happen for them. Perfectly reasonable move to send the runners and try to avoid it. They've had plenty of bad managing, but not this time.

All true, but the Yankees finished last season with a high payroll and a team that looked on paper as if it would miss the playoffs again in 2009. They bought their way out of that situation. It may not get them a championship, but it certainly gave them a good shot at one.

Bucky, maybe you can share a full accounting of your experience today at The Murph.
