Seems every time I turn the Braves on TV, Horacio Ramirez is pitching. Does he go old school and start like every other game for them?

He's probably going 4 or less tonight, so yeah, he probably could come back Sunday.

Marlins about to win to get to 5 under .500 for first time since April 21. They are 37-22 since an 11-31 start.

If the Mets win, the Marlins are 5 back of the Wild Card with three teams to catch.

I figured I would type this up now.... never know what day of a season is the high-water mark.

Through six, Liriano has 10 Ks to only walk in a game tied at 2. Not too shabby.

Chris Ray ruins what would have been Erik Bedard's eighth straight win by giving up a grand slam that looked like it was going to be a weak sac fly to left, but the ball just kept going. Bedard has been otherwise incredible lately. Until just now he was in line for his 13th win of the season, tied for the league lead I think. Too bad he plays for Baltimore, huh?

I posted this on the Carlos Lee thread, but thought it was better suited for this.
FoxSports' Rosenthal is saying the Angels, Astros and Rangers have made significant offers for Tejada and ESPN's Stark is saying Tejada will get traded this weekend.

This is why baseball's a beautiful game: tonight I'm covering a Junior Babe Ruth title game. Local team is 13-0 and plays the game the way it should be played: big-hitting and small-ball and outscores teams on average 12-3; great pitching; nice defense; steals bases; loose in the dugout, etc. Good solid baseball team.

Tonight the team takes a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning and seems to be on the way to winning the game, and title, without giving up a run in any of the playoff games.

Then it all falls apart. Other team starts an inning by stringing a few hits. Then local teams loses its composure and throws the ball away. Other team starts stealing bases and suicide-squeezing. Local team keeps throwing it away. The pitcher throws his glove down like Tanner from the Bad News Bears after one sequence of horrid errors. Other team scores 4 runs for a 4-3 lead.

Yet local team ties it 4-4, so it's a new game. Stays that way through the 5th inning.

In the 6th, local team falls apart again. A sure double-play grounder turns into a ghastly, unnecessary error, which opens the gates to a 2-run inning, and the other team wins the championship 6-4.

    It's a strange, beautiful game.
