This story, included in Olney's blog, is pretty interesting, too. Apparently stud prospects Elijah Dukes, B.J. Upton and Delmon Young aren't too happy being stuck in Triple-A. Smooth move, guys. ::)

    http://www.sptimes.com/2006/07/29/Rays/Maddon_rips_disgruntl.shtml

Young on not being called up to the majors: "I don't know what they're waiting for. They're, what, 30 games out of first place? They think they're going to mess up their clubhouse chemistry. B.J. should be up there. What are they waiting for? They always have excuses."

Dukes on Durham: "In the big leagues, you throw your uniform on the ground and it's washed and hung up nicely in your locker. Here, you do that, you come back the next day and find it still on the floor. Those guys up there (in the big leagues) shower in Evian. Here we use sewer water."

Upton: "I can't believe I'm here. The three of us thought we'd all be up in Tampa right now."

Rays fans are supposed to get excited by these assholes?

I saw that story in a paper, possibly USA Today.

Maybe if Upton didn't make dozens of errors, he'd be in the majors right now. These guys remind me of the "effin' studs" who haven't really done anything yet but say: "Look at how much those boomers suck."

Yes, they suck. Prove that you suck less.

Every team needs a Figgins-like player. ... Manufactured a run early, solid in the outfield, etc.

Someone's going to pay him a lot when he's up for a new contract.

Radke makes it only three innings against the Tigers. Kyle Lohse now in.

Tigers hold on against a pesky Twins team to win 8-6 and win the first two in the series.

Todd Jones strikes out three in the ninth (when was the last time you saw that).

    Bonderman vs. Santana Sunday.

Twins got the tying runs on base in the ninth too. Bunt single and seeing eye single puts the first two on.

Jones strikes out Castillo and Punto (ending Punto's hitting streak). Mauer bloops one to left, scoring one, but Jones gets Cuddyer to strike out.

I would still take Mauer on my team any day.

Compared to last night, the action is slow concerning trades. Is everyone just waiting for the last second now?

There hasn't been a significant trade on July 29 in recent years.
