And Betemit goes yard. Braves are piling on.

    Thought Petco was pitcher-friendly.

Who are these Braves and where were they during the first half?

Bullpen is still a shambles, though, as they proved last night. Braves will probably have a better second half, but not good enough to get the wildcard.

It says nobody recorded a save yesterday. Thought that was interesting enough to post pad.

  4. Can Oakland please put Eric Chavez on the DL already?

terrific, now if they'll just admit buehrle is injured and put him on the DL, we'll all go home happy.

Warning to all anti-Yankees fans (including me): Don't dismiss them, as many of you have already done. Just as they are dismantling the White Sox this weekend, they are still capable of going on a run and winding up in the playoffs. The Tigers are not a lock yet and neither are the Red Sox. As difficult as this is to say, I fear the Yankees in the second half. They can look awful on paper and they're old and injured, but they can still win.

Enjoy life. And hope I'm wrong, if you must. Just be prepared.

Casty, I'm starting to think the same thing. I don't know how the hell they'll do it, especially since they're not as talented as some of the teams they're chasing. But there's a lingering fear that they will.

  8. The Red Sox are a mortal lock!!

I will not listen to those who say otherwise!!

Now I have to go - Wapner's on.

Reds win 4th in a row.

    Clayton 2 key RBI.

Guardado another sloppy save, which is infintely better than Coffey/Weathers before the break.

Krivsky's four significant transactions this year have all posted contribution.

He should be a slam dunk for exec of the year.

Typical Andruw Jones. With Chipper on first, Andruw hits a perfect double play ball to the second baseman, who flips to the shortstop. Chipper busts his ass to the bag to take out the shortstop, who barely gets the throw off to first base, which Andruw isn't close to because he's been jogging down the line the whole time.

Now I know he's one of the best players in the game right now, and he's probably one of the best defensive centerfielders ever, and Bobby always says Andruw plays harder than anyone thinks — so much so that some think he's going to break down sooner rather than later with bad shoulders. But the jogging to first base shit kills me. It's not how you play the fucking game.

    Rant over.

I knew better. Really, I did. It's just that I wanted so bad for the Royals to be a factor. I do hope you're wrong, but I think we all know what the Yankees are capable of, and because Rivera makes for shorter games, they're very dangerous. Fuckers.
