    Aaron Heilman will be available.

Do we really want Heilman on the Nats'? The board will get shut down everytime he comes in to pitch due to Moddy's elevated blood pressure. ;D

The White Sox actually won a game in the Metrodome? Weird.

    Nice MLB.com plug for themselves:

MLB.com's Bill Ladson learned that the Nats intend to add a veteran presence to their inexperienced pitching staff this winter. Low-cost options abound in the free agent market, and I like the idea. A call to Tom Glavine could make sense.

He "learned" it because Stan Kasten and Mike Rizzo stood in the press box and told everybody they planned to do that. How do I know this? I was there. They did this on Aug. 23, three days before this report appeared. Pretty much everybody who writes or blogs about the Nats wrote this the next day, including Ladson.

Not a knock on the Nats' guy Ladson. He didn't write it like that.

Stan Kasten is going to call Tom Glavine? Only to yell "fuck you!" and hang up, just like old times. (You know, in a good-naturedly way.) :D

If you had to ask ... he's not a serious candidate.

    Matt Garza sucks.

The Rangers must've caught a whiff of Met-itis from Darren O'Day. Josh Hamilton just left the game with a back strain, joining Young on the bench. It looked like he did it while batting, but the announcers didn't catch it.

Strangely, Young has not been placed on the DL even though they say he's out a couple of weeks. I guess they have enough September call-ups to cover, plus they hope he can get back sooner than they think.

They said it would be at least two weeks, but after Sept. 1, there really is no reason to put the guy on the DL.

It's looking more and more like last season's Rays World Series run was a fluke. This franchise is headed back to prolonged irrelevancy.
