You're really going to rue the day when Scioscia wins AL manager of the year after the season, after the Angels ran away with the division despite nonstop injuries to the rotation, Teixeira's departure, Adenhart's death, etc.

God, how many times do I have to mention this? I said on either this thread or the last one that I thought Scioscia should win the manager of the year award.

IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT I THINK HE'S SORELY FUCKING OVERRATED.

The caps and the profanities are more for old man spnited than you. Jesus Christ.

I also notice old man spnited didn't have a fucking thing to say when Howie Kendrick was ripping it up during one of his weekly starts. Of course not. Why chime in then when a one-inning sample size better suits his flawed premise?

My bad. As a Royals and Pirates fan, I've done my best to avoid baseball talk and baseball threads, so I must have missed that comment. Now, had you made that comment in the Cy Young thread, I would have seen it ...

No problem. Like I said, the tone and profanities were not aimed at you but the old fucking codger who insists on misrepresenting what I write about Scioscia.

(Also, Jered Weaver for Cy Young!!!! :D :D :D)

Now that Hendry is assured of returning in 2010, he'll have to decide which players to bring back. Dempster, who signed a four-year, $52 million deal last winter, is assured of returning. Zambrano, who signed a five-year, $91.5 million deal in August 2007, is not.

Despite the fact that Zambrano has a full no-trade clause, the Cubs plan on shopping him this off-season, sources said, believing he'll waive the clause to go to the right team, as Jake Peavy eventually did when the Padres consummated a deal this summer with the White Sox.

Not a Cubs fan by a long shot, but I agree, AQB.

Despite having a screw or two loose upstairs, no pitcher has done more for the Cubs over the past five years than Big Z. They'd be crazy to move him.

The payroll is going to be a problem under Ricketts, and this is just the first whisper campaign to get fans ready for that.

That said, he's working on his third straight season of an ERA above 3.5. He's a very good pitcher, but he's not an $18 million/year pitcher. If you can get a good deal for him, great.

The reason behind this is more financial than anything. Which makes it even more infuriating.

Hendry bid against himself to give Milton Bradley a three year deal then handed out a two-year deal to a fucking dwarf nobody else wanted.

    Tell me about it.

Great financial decisions abound on the South Side, too, such as acquiring Alex Rios ...

If you think the guy did the best job of any manager in the league this year, how can you also consider him grossly overrated?

Because he continually pilots 90-odd win teams into first round exits? Because he continually sticks with less-talented players for no apparent reason? Because at least two of his playoff maneuvers against the Red Sox were the worst things I'd ever seen by a manager in the playoffs?
