I suddenly hate the White Sox less and the Dodgers more.

Earlier wire story said Ozzie is slated to pull down one of the numerals counting down the games remaining in the Metrodome either tomorrow or Wednesday. Seems he doesn't like the old barn all that much.

Vladdy just hit his second homer of the night in Seattle, an upper-deck shot on a pitch that didn't bounce but only because he hit it before it touched the ground. Not by much, though.

    Man, he's fun to watch.

There's a difference between "quitting" and not being very good. The Sox are the latter.

If they had traded Alexei Ramirez, Gordon Beckham and John Danks, you might have a point. (Note to self: DO NOT take a nap tomorrow night).

I can see not getting much back for Contreras. But you would like to think they could have gotten a little more for Thome. One report already names the minor leaguer. Another says the White Sox get a player to be named later, "who played in the major leagues this year" with the Dodgers.

If they forget to put Danks or Beckham on the charter out of town, do the Twins get dibs?

Why would they get much back for Thome, especially from an NL team? He's 39, has an awful back and can't play the field. The last guy to generally fit that description (Frank Thomas) couldn't even get a nibble last winter.

What are they supposed to get for an aging pinch-hitter?

    EDIT: See above post.

As a Dodger fan, I'm not arguing the deal. As I said earlier, I'm not sure where he plays. He's not an everyday 1B.

Trib is reporting they got a Class A infielder from the Dodgers. Sox also sent cash to Rockies and Dodgers.

I'd have thrown in $20 to get rid of Contreras.
