Not what Zeke or Rosie wanted to see -- or me for that matter, wanting the White Sox out of the playoffs.

And it is his elbow according to MLB.com.

    Fuckity fuck.

Oh well. This team has bounced back from worse.

But it would have been huge to have him in the playoffs.

Garza looked excellent in his stead.

zeke, the twins gained ground without liriano. true, it's because the tigers sucked, but this isn't the end all be all.

i'm a huge twins fan and also a pessimist by nature. but i'm not too worried about losing him. look at it this way -- if they can beat the tigers and finish first and play the A's in the first round, well, they just took 2 out of 3 from oakland without liriano. so i think it's a nice matchup. and we all know how clutch the A's are in the postseason. /sarcasm

and if they make the wild card and face the yankees, they just have to stop the pathetic schtick where they play country bumpkins and roll over and die every time they enter the hallowed grounds in the bronx.

don't forget that radke had a pain free bullpen session yesterday, so that could be good news on the horizon. this team is resilient.

While either Willis or Cabrera is probably gone next year, the rest of this team will be together for 3-4 years.

The Twins will be OK. No worries.

Don't discount the Red Sox. Glavine grew up in suburban Boston, and heaven knows the Sox need pitching and a reason to keep fans coming to the park. [/half-sarcastic]

Actually, Beej ... Boston was on Glavine's short list in 2002 when he filed for free agency. They also wouldn't give him the fourth year he was looking for, so it became a Mets/Braves fight from then on.

I doubt Boston would be on that list now. I think it's just between Mets and Braves again.

And for those who call Glavine a traitor, he even dropped his price with Atlanta if they would have only guaranteed him that fourth year. Schuerholz (or, more likely, Time Warner) wouldn't budge, even when Glavine lowered it again. He gave the Braves every chance in the world to sign him, but they wouldn't budge. So he took the Mets' (generously higher) offer -- and they even gave him the fourth year -- but he's surely no traitor to the Braves. And I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat if he comes back to win his 300th in '07.

I think Garza has to go back into the rotation and get a couple starts before the playoffs.

    He's looked better every outing.

And notice I said "before" the playoffs. I'm still confident, if only because I think either Detroit or Chicago might self-destruct, and I don't think the Twins will.

And if they get the Yankees, I hope they kick their sorry asses. You have to like Santana against Wang in a first-game matchup. Though Randy Johnson could probably give Minnesota fits. And Mussina's lifetime record against the Twins is borderline unbelievable.

Johan, bullpen, piranhas. That's how they have to do it.

Wang's not going to pitch Game 1, Mussina is. Johnson 2, Wang 3...Joe likes experience in the postseason.
The question is who's No. 4---Jaret Wright or Corey Lidle??? Both kinda shaky
