Joe Torre did something I wasn't certain would occur (particularly based on past statements). Torre has setup the rotation to be Wang, Johnson, then Mussina! Wang's splits at home are fantastic. Torre's theory on Game three is also very true and putting Mussina on the road, where Moose is the best of the three, is another good one.

I think part of the reason the Big Unit is pitching game 2 is because he doesn't go late in games and thus there will be a greater need for bullpen help. Wang and Mussina have the ability to go deeper in games. Now, whoever pitches game 4 is a huge mystery. But, with Johnson going in Game 2, the bullpen will fine for Game 4.

Incredible night for the Phils: SD crushed by Arizona and Kent whiffs with the bases loaded to end 6-4 LA loss to Pittsburgh. Incredibly, after waving the white flag with the Abreu deal and having Gillick all but write them off until 2008, they're tied for the WC with the Dodgers.

    Pitching... pitching... pitching.

    Myers is dominating right now.

Even the Dodgers collapse, since they seem to be playing like this is the week right after the All-Star break, at least we have Russell Martin Sr. playing the National Anthem on his saxophone.

Another reason is that Randy Johnson will benefit from the big area in left field in Yankee Stadium. If the Yanks are ahead 2-1 or sweep, Game 4 won't be urgent because Game 5 will be back at the Stadium and you would have pretty much everybody ready.

But yeah, some pitcher is going to have to step up big time for the Yanks to get a 27th World Series title.

So, was yesterday the last time Roger Clemens pitches in Houston?

    God freakin willing.

But I'm sure he'll hem and haw for several months then return after May 1. Fucking dick. Just retire already, please.

Probably. The Red Sox play the NL West next season, so no chance for an encore in Houston.

I tuned in to the radio broadcast of the Tigers-Orioles game a little late, but what the hell are the fans protesting at the stadium?

Announcers have said they are marching through the stadium, chanting Free the Birds. I can hear the chant through the radio, but not on TV so can't watch.

My guess is they are protesting Peter Angelos?

Big night for the Red Sox, even though they're toast. Papi hit two home runs to break the team's single-season record that had been held by Jimmie Foxx (1938). And he did it against Johan.

I know Zeke and Rosie must not have been happy about that.
