No body deserves to win the NL Central this year. Not even the Reds, who somehow are still mathematically alive.

Freelance, that's not really true. The Pirates deserve it. :D

How bad is the NL Central? The Steelers could win it this year! :D

Hey, let the Bengals keep the AFC North champion t-shirts and hats, the Steelers have their Bowl rings. ;)

As for the Pirates, they still have the best record among NL Central teams since the All-Star Break, which floors me. Actually, I wonder whether the Astros might have passed them during the last week. I need to look into that.

    Just passed them.

    Since the break ...
    Astros 36-32
    Pirates 35-32

The Bengals would have had a shot, too, but their best pitcher got arrested the night before a key game.

But his ERA, WHIP and blood-alcohol percentage are the same number, so he's got that going for him.

Just wanted to point out to all the haters out there that the Yankees finally had their dream lineup in play tonight:

    Damon, CF
    Jeter, SS
    Abreu, RF
    Rodriguez, 3B
    Giambi, DH
    Sheffield, 1B
    Matsui, LF
    Posada, C
    Cano, 2B

Through five innings, they posted 13 runs on 14 hits and lead 13-2 in the top of the sixth. Good times.

The good news is Kris Benson and Bruce Chen are not Johan Santana.

Did I miss the post from the Mets apologists who have to acknowledge that, with tonight's Hiroshima outing from Pedro, it looks like their season will be about four games longer than the Marlins', Pirates' and Braves'.

Late-breaking ROY candidate ties the Astros game.

Inside the park HR for non-ROY Hanley Ramirez.
